Hot Springs Montana Area Guide

On the fringes of the Flathead Indian Reservation lies a particularly interesting town with a particularly interesting claim to fame. Hot Springs, Montana is home to just what its name states, world famous natural hot springs that have attracted attention to the area for ages. The amazing qualities of these springs have drawn people from as far away as Finland and Taiwan. The springs are known for elevating stress as well as relieving the harshness of ailments such as arthritis, skin diseases, rheumatism, stomach ulcers, high blood pressure and many other kinds of conditions. The close proximity of Montana to the boiling geysers of Yellowstone Park allows Hot Springs’ residents to enjoy the warm medicinal benefits of the mineral springs, and though most of Montana’s hot springs happens to be in more of the southwestern regions of the state, that hasn’t stopped people from flocking to Hot Springs to bathe in its healing waters.

Hot Springs, MTThese mineral springs discovered by northwest Indian Tribe of the Pond d'Orielle Indians, which they titled “Big Medicine.” Big Medicine was a common spot for the Pond d'Orielle tribe, an area they inhabited and enjoyed long before trappers and settlers discovered the area. Hot Springs was officially established in 1910, and since it’s induction into the Montana town scene, Hot Springs grew and flourished. At the peek of population, with a total of over a thousand residents, Hot Springs was a town teeming with life and vibrancy. That number has since dropped due to several unfortunate events to occur in the town’s past, but Hot Springs Montana does not know the word quit and continues to maintain itself as a premier recreational community.

Hot Springs is a full service community, providing both its residents and its thousands of guests a year the absolute best in modern amenities as well as leisure. Take part in "Homesteader's Days" in Hot Springs, an annual event held the second weekend in June to celebrate to first settler’s of Hot Springs, the ones that showed the world the wonders and benefits of this area’s rejuvenating mineral springs. Those aches and pains of every day life will, quite literally, be washed away in the numerous hot mineral water facilities found throughout Hot Springs Montana. The several privately owned facilities that offer indoor bathing and hot tubs include the Symes Hotel (with its new outdoor hot mineral water swimming pool), the Hot Springs Spa, and Wild Horse Hot Springs. Take a trip to “Big Medicine” and see why Hot Spring’s motto is, "Limp in, Leap out."
